Cult presentation
I found it interesting how this presentation group compared political leaders and cult leaders. I like how they brought up tactics that political leaders use as in, making promises, propaganda, and targeting certain groups. Brining up what propaganda is a good reminder how much it is engraved in our society. With advertising, through social media, speeches, etc. It definitely had negative and positive impacts. It can be used negatively to try to get people to follow that propaganda. People tend to believe anything they see in the media these days, especially the younger generations and the older generations. An example I can think of is when a hispanic news channel put out a story saying that AirPods cause cancer. With no evidence to back this theory up, hispanic parents were tricked into this. It can definitely influence people to do things or follow someone. In a way, both political and cult leaders brainwash people for their own gain. I like how they did a comparison chart.
For cult leaders, they said:
- Create a common enemy
- Charismatic
- paint themselves as a savior
- manipulate
- target certain groups
- make promises
- propaganda/fear
- target certain groups
- manipulate
